Full story:
William is our son and is now a 16 month old little boy, he had Croup and was taken into hospital where he suffered 2 respiratory arrests. he was transfered to ICU and during re intubation suffered a cardiac arrest which ended in severe brain damage. we were given a bleak outlook at best as he lost his ability to do everything except breath, he is now making a recovery and has regained sight, hearing, swallow, feeding orally with somethings, grasping and flipping over from back to front, head control has started to come back and all his muscle tone has gone back to normal as well as no spasims for over a month. We are due to have an MRI next week along with an upper airway check and video swallow as he has mild stridor which gets worse on exersize and excitement. He is also having choaking/gasping for braeth episodes about 1 a day and we were wondering if it could be down to his NG tube as well. The consultant thinks he could have been damaged in ICU and it could be glottic stenosis or maybe his brain has caused him to have a floppy airway. Needless to say its scary having to think about putting him to sleep again after getting SO much of him back....
